Day 1

- Write a lie. Write what it would be like to tell a lie to a loved one. Either write a lie or write about telling the truth, as long as it is out of character for you.

She walked through the doorway and my heart stopped. Then sped to 190bpm. Then stopped again. In a single second my eye must have twitched fifteen times. If there was a time to tell her, it was now. But how? The truth seemed an impossibility as she flashed a smile and approached for a morning kiss.

It was her favorite pair of shoes. Black leather, pointy toe, with a fancy buckle around the ankle. She referred to them as her "business casual besties." And it's Friday morning.

While she was downstairs making coffee, I was working out my morning grogginess with a stretch in bed. As my arms opened up like wings to lift me out from the covers I caught a bottle of nail polish on the bedside table. Bright, ruby red nail polish. The bottle landed in her right shoe, and splattered all of its contents inside, outside, and in every crevice between.

Poor little Roxie was laying next to me in bed, ready to take the heat.
"Hi babe, I have bad news."
"What is it?" she asked.
"Roxie knocked your nail polish over and... well... just come look"
"Roxie!" she exclaimed, "How the heck did you do this? My favorite shoes! Go downstairs, get out of here bugg"
"I'm sorry, I was just stretching and she moved away from me and knocked it over, I'm so sorry"
"It's ok, it's not your fault," she said, "Roxie is lucky she is so small and cute. I was planning on wearing these today. Gaaah I'm so bummed"
"Don't worry, I'll buy you a new pair soon"
"You don't have to, it's fine I'll get over it," She groaned.

Thanks Roxie
